Farmers and Growing Golf

At Farmers, we celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within our organization and the communities that we serve. We have dedicated time and resources to making a difference in those communities, including through the game of golf. As the title sponsor of the Farmers Insurance Open®, we take seriously the responsibility and opportunity we have to help champion diversity in the sport we love. Part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion has been focused on establishing a pipeline designed to help increase diversity in golf participation and throughout the industry. The pipeline begins with introductions to the sport at various levels, extending to collegiate opportunities, and networking, all the way to the professional level.

In January 2020, we were proud to be the first PGA TOUR tournament to host an Advocates Pro Golf Association (APGA) Tour event during tournament week with the formation of the APGA Tour Farmers Insurance® Invitational. In 2022, the event held its 3rd annual tournament, making history with the final round broadcast nationally on The Golf Channel.

“I've seen first-hand how support from Farmers Insurance has helped the APGA Tour grow and bring more diversity to the game,” said 2021 APGA Tour Farmers Insurance Invitational winner Landon Lyons. “Personally, I've grown more both on and off the course by playing on the APGA Tour than I could have imagined. The players on the APGA Tour are some of the hardest working people that I've been around, and I have made friendships that will last me a long time. This is a great Tour to test your game as a golfer and an even better place to broaden your understanding and become a better person. Farmers is truly making a difference for all of us and for the game and I hope other companies will follow their lead to support the APGA Tour.”

Farmers has further deepened our relationship with the APGA TOUR by increasing our financial support for player access, helping to provide professional and career development opportunities for players, and helping to bring the game to younger athletes.

In addition to our increased commitment to the APGA Tour, Farmers supports the Black College Golf Coaches Association and Women in Golf Foundation and has an expanded relationship with the APGA Foundation. By engaging with these organizations, we help to create an introduction to the game and a lasting connection that extends through college and into the professional space. This dedicated effort to provide a pathway into golf will help guide more players from diverse backgrounds into the game, into college, and into the industry as a whole, with the ultimate goal to enhance diversity within all levels of the professional game.
