Does car insurance take effect immediately?

Car insurance can take effect on the day you purchase it if you choose to have it start on the day the policy is paid. If you buy your policy from an agent, they can provide proof of insurance at the time of purchase. If you buy your policy online, you can print your insurance card immediately. You can also download the Farmers mobile app for a digital insurance card loaded straight into your account. While your insurance card may be available right away, your coverage isn’t in effect until the official start date of your policy.
